Manchester United are preparing a mega-money bid for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal according to this mornings Daily Star. The 27-year old is regarded as one of the best holding midfielders in world football, and signing him would be a real message to fellow Premier League rivals, showing that we can still attract the huge names.
Lets be honest, Arturo Vidal has everything you’d need as a midfielder. He works hard, tracks back, doesn’t shirk a tackle, has an excellent passing range and even scores goals – he’s the complete midfielder. Alongside Ander Herrera, and someone with a bit more flair like Juan Mata, that could be a midfield trio that clubs would certainly fear.
I’d happily let Nani go if it was the clincher to bringing Vidal into Old Trafford. On his day, Nani is arguably one of the best wingers in the world. Sadly for us though, his inconsistency often lets him down.
With Chile now out of the World Cup, and if this deal has real truth behind it, you’d expect to hear something official sooner rather than later. Hopefully Edward Woodward can get this one done as quickly as possible.
(For some reason, the back of the paper says £50million but the actual article says £45million).
