Gossip: Marco Reus could still make Manchester United move

Louis van Gaal didn’t get off to the start he expected at the hands of Swansea on Saturday, as Manchester United struggled to a 2-1 defeat to the Welsh side. We’ve now got less than two weeks until the transfer window slams shut, and if the Old Trafford side want to compete for a top four spot, at least two or three signings are an absolute must.

According to Rob Dawson of the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are still interested in signing Marco Reus from Dortmund, but perhaps not until next summer.

United are reportedly under the impression that Reus has a buy-out clause that activates next summer, hinting that they’ll certainly be looking to release it. However, the competition for his signature will definitely be fierce. If the reports suggesting that he has a release clause under the £30million mark are true, then it’ll take some huge wages to lure him to Manchester.

Champions League football is also a must. Teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG, Manchester City and Chelsea can all offer the kind of cash we can, plus elite level European competition too. A top four finish is essential this season if we hold out any hope of signing 25-year old Reus.
