Manchester United have launched an audacious £55million bid for want-away Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria, claim The Express. The 26-year old’s move to big spending Paris Saint-Germain was all-but sealed up until this week, when their chairman revealed that the Argentine would ‘cost too much’.
PSG’s reluctance to give into Real Madrid’s demands is probably down to Financial FairPlay, after they’ve been warned to curb their spending after splashing a huge £50million on ex-Chelsea centre-back David Luiz.
Angel di Maria had a terrific season in the Spanish capital, but the arrival of James Rodriguez from Monaco has all-but sealed his fate as a Real Madrid player. Di Maria will certainly be on the move this summer, with Manchester United current favourites for his signature.
I’d be concerned if we splashed £50million+ on Di Maria without really addressing the problem areas first. Centre-back and central midfield certainly have to take priority in my opinion, and we need a couple of new additions in these areas before we try to strengthen an already strong attack.
