Hannibal has ‘said yes’ to Sevilla loan, Erik ten Hag ‘reluctant’ to let him leave this month

Hannibal is seemingly keen on heading to Sevilla on loan, though Erik ten Hag doesn’t want to sanction a deal…

Manchester United Football Club would be wise to trim down their squad this month, particularly with the lack of Champions League football on offer.

Erik ten Hag has already ushered Donny van de Beek out of the exit door. In an ideal world, a few other senior faces will follow.

We could also see some younger players heading out, as they look to gain invaluable experience away on loan. Hannibal is certainly someone who falls into that bracket.

According to AS, Sevilla are focusing on acquiring the Tunisia international. The report states that the Spanish side are ‘obsessed’ about strengthening in the number 10 position this month, with Hannibal identified as an option.

Hannibal, who has been restricted to less than 100 minutes this term, has ‘said yes’ to the loan move away, though Ten Hag is ‘reluctant’ to let the midfielder leave despite that lack of minutes.

The midfielder has always looked lively whenever called upon, albeit during limited opportunities. At this stage in his career, Hannibal simply has to be playing consistently. That’s not happening here for the 20-year-old and with players returning from injury, it doesn’t make sense to keep him around.

Honestly, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Hannibal leave on loan this month and then permanently next summer. The emergence of Kobbie Mainoo makes it even tougher for the ex-AS Monaco youngster to earn regular minutes in Manchester.

After signing for around £8m, I struggle to see how United recoup that figure if the club does decide to cash in.

Do you think there’s any point in a loan for Hannibal? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
