Young midfielder Hannibal is now looking set to leave Man United for good this summer.
Manchester United are a club undergoing major change right now. Sir Jim Ratcliffe will have big plans for the Old Trafford side, though it will take time.
Before we start to see major signings made, you’d expect INEOS to clear the decks first and get rid of all the dead wood. Not only does it offer more room for manoeuvre, it also allows the manager to wipe the slate clean.
Several high profile players will likely be out of the exit door, while some youngsters may be on the way out, too.
Hannibal Mejbri is seemingly falling into the latter category, according to Give Me Sport.
Apparently, the talented United midfielder is now ‘likely’ to leave the Reds this summer on a permanent deal.
Feyenoord have shown an interest in bringing in the man from Tunisia who has failed to work his way into the first-team at Old Trafford. Hannibal has also struggled while on loan at Sevilla this season.
United recently protected their asset by triggering a one-year extension in his contract, meaning Hannibal is under terms until 2025. As a result, the Reds should get some sort of transfer fee for the midfielder if/when he does depart.
Hannibal has been on the periphery of the first-team for a couple of years now, failing to make that all-important breakthrough. I don’t doubt the talent is there, though I’ve always felt the 21-year-old is a little too over-eager, lacking that composure.
A move to the Eredivisie feels like an excellent stylistic fit, while Feyenoord are a top club within their own right. This would allow Hannibal to play without having massive pressure upon his shoulders, which is exactly what he needs at this young stage of his career.
Sometimes you have to take a step backward to eventually move forward. I feel like this is absolutely the case right now for Hannibal.
