Harry Amass is back in first-team Man United training, just a day after the devastating Luke Shaw injury news.
Manchester United Football Club have yet another injury dilemma on their hands. The Red Devils have been dealt blow after blow on that front this term, making Erik ten Hag’s job infinitely more difficult as a result.
The latest problem was suffered away at Luton Town last week. For the second game running, Luke Shaw didn’t make it out for the second half. This time around, though, the problem was far more severe.
Shaw may not play again this season due to a recurrence of a leg injury. He will be out for at least three months.
That leaves no senior left-backs fit and available to Ten Hag. Tyrell Malacia still hasn’t returned, while Sergio Reguilon’s loan was ended early. Alvaro Fernandez is also away from the club at present. He’s with Benfica on a year-long deal.
Ten Hag has a real selection headache to figure out. None of which feel all that appealing. The likelihood is that we see Victor Lindelof starting in that position, though Harry Amass is another potential option.
Now, the young left-back has been pictured in senior training after the Shaw injury news. This is not the first time Amass has been invited to work out with the senior squad, so this doesn’t necessarily point to the 16-year-old playing meaningful minutes. However, it’s certainly a possibility…

Amass is mega talented. Nobody can deny that fact. However, I worry that throwing him into action too soon could seriously ruin his young career. It’s why I don’t believe we’ll see Amass starting games this season.
Either way, the fact that he’s training with the first team does tell you that Ten Hag sees Amass as someone who has potential to play regularly for the senior squad in future.
In our opinion, it’s about building him up for a possible involvement in the pre-season tour squad this coming summer. That consistent exposure to the senior setup will only serve Amass well going forward.
