Man United have Harry Kane atop their transfer wishlist this summer.
Manchester United absolutely have to sign a striker of genuine quality this summer. There can be no other result when the window slams shut.
Harry Kane is the name most linked with an Old Trafford switch. Obviously, that makes sense given the fact he’s out of contract in a little over a year, while Tottenham Hotspur are seriously struggling to help him win a trophy…
The latest update in the saga comes from Sami Mokbel in the Daily Mail. His information is usually spot on, so don’t take this story lightly.
According to the report, Kane would cost United £100m in terms of transfer fee and at least £300,000-a-week in wages. Obviously, that’s an awful lot of money. That said, Spurs would rather keep ahold of a man who is a true club legend.
The 29-year-old striker is named as the forward United ‘truly want’ to sign this summer, though the big money he’d cost could make things complicated. Hence, the Reds have alternatives. Victor Osimhen and Dusan Vlahovic are options for Ten Hag.
Kane is at that stage in his career where he has a real decision to make. Does he transfer to United now? Who are in dire need of a striker? Or does he stay put at Spurs and probably win nothing, but become the all-time Premier League record goalscorer? Keeping his Spurs legacy intact?
United also have the ownership status of the club still looming overhead. Will the Glazers sanction huge money to bring in Kane? I’d doubt it. You’d expect the club would have to have big-spending people in place by then. Something which I doubt at this moment in time.
As we edge closer to the summer window, we’ll just have to see how this one plays out.
