Man United still have Harry Kane on their radar. Yes, you did read that correctly.
Last summer, Manchester United were desperate to sign a striker. Harry Kane felt like the logical choice. He wanted to leave Tottenham Hotspur in pursuit of trophies. The Reds chose to move in a different direction as the Englishman headed to Bavaria and Bayern Munich.
That move to Germany was supposed to guarantee silverware. The situation may well change, but right now, Munich are behind in the Bundesliga title race.
Now, Football Transfers believe United still have eyes on Kane, in the event he is open to a return to England.
Their Jacque Talbot writes that the prolific 30-year-old striker remains ‘well-liked’ by United, while the club would ‘pursue’ Kane if he is indeed willing to return after just twelve months in Mainland Europe.
Kane was ‘very open’ to a United switch before his move to Bayern, but the Reds were in a position where they just couldn’t afford the ex-Spurs man. However, Bayern may now be forced into letting some of their bigger stars leave, in order to fund their own summer transfer business. It’s unclear whether Kane would be up for grabs.
Has the ship sailed…?
For me, the answer to that question is a resounding yes. Many were wondering why the Red Devils chose to let Kane head to Germany, but the signing of Rasmus Hojlund is looking smarter and smarter with each passing game.
What sense is there to hamper Hojlund’s development now? For a big-money signing like Kane who is the wrong side of 30 and will probably be on the decline sooner rather than later.
