In the January transfer window, Manchester United Football Club eventually managed to sign a striker, albeit on a short-term basis. Odion Ighalo made the move to Old Trafford, though whether he’s the realistic solution for the foreseeable future remains to be seen.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has that decision to make. In the end, you’d imagine that Ighalo will head back to Shanghai Shenhua, with United moving for a permanent solution; enter Harry Kane…
First and foremost, this is a story I never thought I’d be covering but here we go… According to Goal, the world-class 26-year-old would consider a move to Manchester United this summer.
Apparently, Kane would prefer not to stay at Spurs as they undergo an extensive rebuild, with the player reluctant to wait for a major overhaul.
Goal adds that sources close to Kane have ‘made it known’ that the striker would be ‘keen’ on a move to Old Trafford – offering United, namely Edward Woodward, the ‘encouragement he needs’ to proceed with any bids…
Now unfortunately, it’s not as straightforward as that. Kane is under contract with Spurs until 2024. He’s one of their own and they aren’t going to let him walk away that easily – particularly to a Premier League rival.
Daniel Levy is a notoriously tough negotiator. He’d probably demand in excess of £200million to let Kane, a striker in his prime, move to direct competition. If the Englishman does want out, perhaps he’d be best-served considering an overseas move, Real Madrid or FC Barcelona would undoubtedly be interested in his services…
