Manchester United Football Club are having to contend with a Harry Maguire injury doubt ahead of their trip to Newcastle tomorrow.
The Englishman, who was sent off for his country on Wednesday, looks like he’s been suffering recently. With everything that’s going on in his personal life, it must be supremely difficult to concentrate on his football.
That could well explain the sub-par performances, at least to some extent. Some fans have actually been calling for Maguire to be given some time away from the game – which would make sense.
Well, that decision may well be about to get easier for the Baby Faced Assassin… During his usual pre-match press conference, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed that the 27-year-old is an injury doubt to take on Newcastle tomorrow with a ‘knock’.
Check out what our gaffer had to say about Maguire being an injury doubt here:
“Harry seemed to pick up a little knock just before he got sent off,” revealed Ole to MUTV. “So we’re having a look at him today to see how he is.“
It sounds weird to say, but this could be good for Maguire. No longer is he forced to play when he’s not in the right frame of mind.
Knowing the player, he’ll want to continue on and be there for his teammates. Sometimes, though, it’s best to take a decision that the player may not like – to ensure his long-term stability.
We actually didn’t have Maguire in our predicted XI anyway, just because we feel the time is now to give him a couple of weeks off. He’s our captain, we’re going to need him in the long-term.
Right now, though, he needs to look after himself. We’re right behind you, skipper. Take some time away and get yourself mentally right, before returning with a real point to prove.
