Harry Maguire has appeared to hit back at Chelsea penalty claims following the 0-0 draw at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Let’s not beat around the bush, Saturday’s ‘entertainment’ at the Theatre of Dreams was a pretty dreadful watch. Manchester United and Chelsea clashes are rarely that safe. Both sides seemed content to play for a point, which was disappointing.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team perhaps had the best chances through Marcus Rashford. However, the media attention was solely focused on Harry Maguire.
The Manchester United captain was embroiled in a one-on-one duel with Cesar Azpilicueta, in which Maguire would have his arms around Chelsea’s Spaniard. Look, it was a pretty blatant penalty, nobody is denying that.
However, the media is fixated on the incident, while completely ignoring what happened up the other end of the field earlier on in the very same game. A similar incident, in which Chelsea’s Reece James would wrestle Maguire to the ground, isn’t generating any headlines whatsoever…
Now, Maguire has seemingly taken to his Instagram stories to defend himself and hit back at Chelsea. Rightly so, too!
Check out the Harry Maguire post in relation to the penalty claims:

Whatever you think about Maguire, he’s right. There was no written caption from our skipper, but his message is pretty obvious.
Why isn’t James being panned for his ‘tackle’ on Maguire? Just like Maguire is for the foul on Azpilicueta…?
Anyway, enough on that. I have to say fair play to our captain. He had a bad few games to start the season, that much is obvious. Over the last week, though, Slabhead has played two brilliant games against Newcastle and Chelsea.
His mental strength, toughness and resolve deserves to be praise. After all, we are talking about a player who was in the BBC’s Team of the Year after a great debut season with the Red Devils.
Hopefully, all the off-field stuff is now behind him and Maguire can focus solely on his football.
