Harry Maguire arrives in Manchester to undergo medical & sign 5-year contract: report

After at least one month of negotiating, Manchester United are seemingly closing in on the acquisition of Harry Maguire.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 26-year-old has arrived in Manchester for his medical. He’s also ‘ready’ to sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford.

Centre-half has been a huge need for the Red Devils for years despite the signings of both Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof. Ole Gunnar Solskaer now has a reliable, top-level defender who isn’t afraid to bark orders at his teammates should the situation arise.

Maguire also loves to play out from the back and get his team on the front-foot rather than just hoofing the ball clear. The one they call ‘Slabhead’ is going to be a huge influence on this United team and I cannot wait to see him in action.

Hopefully, a deal can be finalised over the next 24 hours or so, with United looking to get Maguire into training sessions as early as possible to give him the best possible chance at starting the game against Chelsea one week from today.

Thankfully, Maguire had been in pre-season training with Leicester and he has played a few games, so he’s probably in better shape than, say, Romelu Lukaku… Who hasn’t featured at all.
