Harry Maguire still believes he can still be a key figure for Man United this season, despite the fact the Reds were open to offers for the Englishman.

Manchester United have now signed two potentially world-class centre-halves this summer. Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt.

The former is injured for the foreseeable, though in limited minutes, the Frenchman has already proven why many believe he’s a wonderkid, while De Ligt’s resume speaks for itself.

As a result, some more familiar faces may be naturally pushed out of the side. Faces like Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire. Both of whom have more than played their role for United over the last half a decade.

The Englishman hasn’t had an easy time of it whatsoever. From losing the captain’s armband, to often being benched in those vital moments. However, not once has his own confidence or self-belief wavered.

HITC has provided an update on the future of Maguire, who could have been pushed further out of the fold after the arrivals of both Yoro and De Ligt. Typically, though, the Sheffield United youngster hasn’t moaned nor made a big deal out of it. Instead, he’s working hard and putting in the graft.

HITC write that the United player still believes he can be an ‘important’ asset to the Reds, in spite of the fact that United were ready to listen to offers for the 31-year-old.

Again, it’s another show of his self-belief, yet also being mature enough to understand that at the highest level, you’re not going to start every week.

I genuinely do believe that having someone around with that attitude is 100% necessary. He’s a leader within that dressing room. Armband or not. He’s an on-field asset, too. Injuries are part and parcel of the same, while United have European matches to play this season. He will absolutely be given his fair share of minutes over the next nine months. Starting with Fulham at Old Trafford on Friday night.
