Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire, has taken to Twitter after being booed by England fans.
We’ve had to deal without Manchester United for a fortnight now and to tell you the truth, the break has been pretty good.
I am looking forward to their return against Leicester City this weekend, mind. United now have to finish the season supremely strongly, even if they don’t make it into the top four, it’s about showing everyone else that we’ll come back with a point to prove next season.
Ahead of that game, though, we have the small matter of England fans booing Harry Maguire to address. I’d wager that 90% of the Three Lions crowd in attendance last night aren’t even United fans, so where they’ve got this idea to boo Maguire from is beyond me. After all, he’s been brilliant for country, giving England supporters some memorable moments.
The likes of Gareth Southgate and Harry Kane have come out in support of Maguire, condemning the boo-boys, while Maguire remained silent – until a post on social media this morning.
It looks as though our club captain is taking the high ground, breaking his silence on social media with a simple caption reading ‘Enjoyable week playing for my country’.
It was sad what happened to him yesterday, and completely unnecessary. However, this could help him get his United career get back on track. The Old Trafford Faithful will now get fully behind Maguire, starting with the Leicester City game this Saturday.
We all know Maguire has it in his locker to string a genuine run of great performances together and perhaps having the United fans right behind him will help him in that regard.
