Manchester United have had to play the Machester derby without Harry Maguire following injury, with Slabhead missing a drab 3-1 home defeat to our fierce rivals.
Earlier today, we covered a story from The Mirror in which it was claimed Maguire would miss a month of action after suffering a hip muscle tear.
Well, now we’ve been given a completely different slant from Jonathan Shrager – who is usually clued up on all things Red Devils. He took to Twitter late last night to claim that the 26-year-old could actually be fit to play this Saturday against Norwich City – potentially handing the Old Trafford outfit a huge boost.
United’s defence was an absolute shambles without Maguire back there in the derby – and it doesn’t help when the only current centre-backs fit are Victor Lindelof and Phil Jones.
Again, it comes back to the decision to let Chris Smalling leave before the likes of Jones and the always-injured duo of Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo.
Maguire going down was just the icing on the cake and honestly, if it was a long-term injury, I’d already be kissing our chances at finishing in the top four goodbye.
Thankfully, it seems as though we’ve been given a lifeline with Maguire expected back far quicker than expected. It’d be superb if he’s ready to go this weekend.
