Victor Lindelof came on leaps and bounds over the last twelve months, with the Ice Man finally beginning to show why the Red Devils brought him to Old Trafford in 2017.
Now it’s about finding him a partner. The name that keeps appearing on the back pages is Harry Maguire, and earlier today, Goal provided us an update on the top-class centre-half.
Apparently, the 26-year-old is ‘flattered’ by United’s interest in him, and is he keen on a move as he looks to be a part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s rebuild at the Theatre of Dreams.
Furthermore, United are looking to push through a deal for Maguire this summer, after showing initial interest in signing the one they call ‘Slabhead’ a year or so ago.
Solskjaer’s transfer strategy has been clear. He wants to bring in young, preferably British talent. Although Maguire half fits the bill, United are desperate for a centre-half who can take command of the whole back line. The Leicester City man would be a brilliant acquisition in that regard.
Maguire won’t come cheap, though. Leicester are under no pressure whatsoever, particularly with the England international putting pen to paper on a new long-term contract during the 2018/19 season. Hopefully, United go back in with another bid shortly – after failing with a £70million bid earlier on in the month. We covered that story from Sky Sports here.
