Harry Maguire left in a support boot following ankle injury

Manchester United’s Harry Maguire injury scare could have just been made a whole lot worse…

After United’s 3-1 victory over Aston Villa, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would provide us all with a Harry Maguire injury update. The Baby Faced Assassin wouldn’t give much away, though he hinted at his captain being out for weeks rather than days.

The English centre-half has been Mr Consistent since his arrival at the Theatre of Dreams, not missing a single minute of Premier League action – until yesterday…

Well, there’s every chance he’s going to miss at least one or two games during our season run-in. According to Henry Winter, the key United star was spotted wearing a support boot following his injury, leaving us all even more concerned.

Obviously, the last thing you wanted to see is Maguire’s ankle in a protective boot. This is someone who is comfortably our best, most consistent defender and I’d dread to think where we’d be without him.

Now, with seventeen days to go until the Europa League final, and four Premier League games in between, the race is on.

At this stage, I’d say things do not look good. There’s no way Maguire puts a protective boot on his ankle if he isn’t concerned about the issue and obviously, United are doing all they can to get him back fit and available as soon as possible.

It’d just be so unfair if he’s the one who misses the final. Not only that, he’s a player we badly need back there. I wouldn’t trust a combination of Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly in any match, never mind a European final. Both are just too inconsistent and unpredictable, with Maguire usually the calming influence in our defence.

Get well soon, Harry!
