Harry Maguire named PFA Community Champion for 2020/21

Harry Maguire has been named as the PFA Community Champion for 2020/21.

Manchester United’s Premier League season is done, though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has to lead his side into Europa League battle for the final on Wednesday.

One player who is looking increasingly unlikely to feature in that game is club captain Harry Maguire.

The Englishman is suffering with an ankle injury he picked up a few games ago. He’s yet to return to training so him starting against Villareal would be a huge risk.

It seems as though Maguire’s impact off the field is just as big as on it. The United skipper has been named the PFA’s Community Champion for 2020/21, along with Manchester United Women’s Amy Turner.

Sometimes, it’s easy to forget that football goes beyond what happens on the pitch. Maguire and Turner have done their bit for the local areas and I can promise you, that doesn’t go unnoticed.

Maguire’s done great work for both Manchester and his hometown of Sheffield, showing us all that he hasn’t forgotten about his roots, while ensuring that he remains grounded despite being a multi-millionaire.

The United Foundation just gives us another reason to be proud of this club. Although there may be a dislike towards the owners at the moment, the everyday people in and around Old Trafford deserve massive credit for all the work they do.

Maguire and Turner are the faces of a club that genuinely does care. You look at Marcus Rashford as another big example of just how charitable the United family is. Long may that continue, too.

Congratulations Harry and Amy!
