Manchester United finally got their first, much-needed away victory of the campaign. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side put in an average performance, though Anthony Martial’s penalty was enough to secure all three points.
There was a full debut for James Garner while young Brandon Williams continued to impress. It was also a special night for Harry Maguire, who captained United for the first time since his summer move to Old Trafford.
Maguire put in a typically-strong performance against Partizan, leading the line well throughout and controlling the team. I’ve no doubt that Slabhead having the armband and United winning away from home on the same night is more than a coincidence.
Anyway, shortly after the game, Maguire took to Twitter to express his delight at captaining the Red Devils for the first time.
He really does have a winners and captain’s mentality and honestly, I don’t think it’ll be too long before Slabhead gets the armband on a permanent basis.
Maguire certainly was £80million well spent and that simply cannot be denied. He’s helped our defence endlessly and now he’s showing off his skills in the leadership department.
He just represents this club so well and you just love to see it.
Congratulations, Harry!
