Harry Maguire has turned down a late loan move to Inter Milan.

Manchester United’s defence looks a whole lot different this time around. Credit where it’s due, Erik ten Hag has pulled off some minor miracles in that area of the pitch this season.

Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire, who were once first-team starters, have now been pushed out. The latter, who remains club captain, is no doubt unhappy with the current situation.

The Daily Star are now reporting that the United first-teamers has turned down a late loan move to Inter Milan over the last 24 hours. With the club captain choosing to remain in Manchester, at least until the summer…

It’s stated that the ‘disgruntled’ United player will reassess his position when June rolls around. Assuming he cannot get back into the good books of the new United boss. Inter will revive their interest in the Englishman at that time, too.

Maguire’s in a tough spot. As are United. Captains usually start every match. The Englishman isn’t doing that right now. Perhaps letting him leave is far easier than stripping the ex-Leicester City man of the armband.

I’m actually of the opinion that Maguire has been largely decent for United. Sadly, that huge transfer fee has always hung over his head. That makes things difficult from the get-go.

At this stage, though, a permanent move away does feel like the most likely outcome here. Maguire has been a good servant to this club. He has never publicly moaned. He’s always donned that armband with genuine pride. You can never take that away from him. Hopefully, we can win a trophy this term, in order to give him some sort of recognition for these last few years.
