Harry Maguire ‘wants to stay’ at Man United next season, regardless of who is manager

Harry Maguire fully intends on staying at Man United this season, even if Erik ten Hag loses his job.

Manchester United are anticipating major change this summer. Both in terms of staff at board level and players. Erik ten Hag may not oversee those changes, though we’ll have to wait and see on that one.

One man who is intent on staying at the Theatre of Dreams is Harry Maguire, with the Englishman having just one year left on his deal.

According to The Sun, the player ‘wants to stay’ with the Reds this summer, regardless of who is manager.

The Englishman is set for talks with club bosses this summer, though he is ‘desperate’ to remain at Old Trafford beyond the next few months. United also have the option to extend Maguire’s current contract by an extra year.

Maguire deserves immense credit. I have to be honest. It would have been easy for the ex-captain to throw in the towel, after he was deemed surplus to requirements twelve months ago. Instead, he’s kicked it up a notch and played better football.

At this point I’d argue the England centre-half has been the Reds’ most consistent defender all season long. He absolutely deserves all the plaudits coming his way. I’m happy he now wants to stay for another year as his experience and quality could be crucial.

It’s a testament to his mental fortitude and toughness. There were times when the majority of the fanbase were on his back. Instead of moaning and asking for a way out, he’s risen to the challenge and kicked his game up another notch. I’d be delighted to see him stick around.
