Man United are set to be without the services of Harry Maguire for two weeks with injury.

Erik ten Hag is preparing for his first Manchester derby of his career, in what is set to be a high-intensity game between two top sides.

The match itself is going to be a struggle. We have to be honest with ourselves. City are a side further along in their development than United. It’ll take time to close that gap.

Either way, this will be a great test to see how far our lads have come under Ten Hag during a short space of time. Keeping Erling Haaland is going to be the main task, though they’ll have to do it without the services of one defender; Harry Maguire, who has picked up an injury.

It’s The Sun with the claim. Their sources are telling them that the Englishman will be out for a fortnight, dealing United a cruel blow, after picking up the problem while playing for his country.

Obviously, Maguire hasn’t been flavour of the month recently, but he’s the third-choice centre-back and next in line should either Lisandro Martinez or Raphael Varane pick up a problem of their own.

How did Harry Maguire pick up the injury?

Maguire went on to play 90 minutes for England against Germany, putting in a decent display on the whole, but making a big mistake to gift Germany the lead. He was also spotted limping after the match.

It sounds strange to suggest that this injury may be a good thing for Maguire, but he absolutely needs some time away from the spotlight. This fortnight absence may allow the ex-Leicester City man to get his head right and start believing in his ability once again.

I refuse to believe you can become a bad player overnight. Maguire has some genuine qualities that can help this team in the long-term. He just needs a few good games under his belt and the fans to get fully behind him.
