Manchester United Football Club are through to the Champions League last sixteen – but only by the skin of their teeth. The game itself was a rather drab affair, and Marouane Fellaini left it late, but the Red Devils did it with a game to spare.
The performance was poor once again and the result could have been a whole lot different if Jose Mourinho didn’t have David de Gea to call upon once more. The Spaniard made another simply stunning save to keep the game at 0-0 in the second half, and it does make you wonder where we’ll be without him.
At 28, De Gea has been the best goalkeeper in the business over the last few years, although recently, there has been questions surrounding his performance levels for the Spain national team. Hopefully, those will now have been quashed.
After the game, Mourinho did confirm that De Gea actually wants to stay at United which is a massive boost. Hopefully, he’ll put pen to paper on the dotted line in the not too distant future. For now, though, enjoy the best reactions to one of the greatest saves I’ve ever seen.
