Henrikh Mkhitaryan explains why he’ll be even better next season

Over last summer, I thought that Manchester United made one of the most underrated transfers of the window. Jose Mourinho sanctioned a move to bring in Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund, with the Armenia captain taking the #22 jersey.

After a slow start, we’ve become accustomed to wonderful performances from the 27-year-old, who has scored some brilliant goals including that scorpion kick against Sunderland.

Now Mkhitaryan has been reflecting on his time at Old Trafford so far, and added that we’ve not seen the best of him yet. Fair play to him for coming out and saying this, because it definitely puts added pressure on him to perform even better by the time next season comes around.

“No, not yet. I still have places where I can improve and room to improve. I know myself very well and I am sure than I can do better, and I will do better, because I am confident.” Mkhitaryan told Manchester United’s official channel.

“I know very well within myself I can do more, I want to say that, for next year, I am going to have more goals and more assists.

“Of course, you can improve in every aspect,” he added. “There is not one side that you can say I am good on it and then I don’t have to work on that facet. You have to work on every side to your game, in every aspect, because you just have to keep working hard to improve.”

I love ‘Micky’. He’s just perfect for this football club in every single way. He’s direct, gets people off of their seats and he’s always looking to make something happen. What’s even better is the point that he seems to be loving life here.

If there is one criticism I have, it’s that he has been pretty inconsistent. If he can perform at that high level every single week, then we’ll have an absolute gem of a footballer on our hands.

I’m all for giving him the benefit of the doubt this year, because he’s in a completely new environment, and he hasn’t been helped out by a whole host of niggling injuries either. I’m so excited to see how he gets on next year, because I think he’ll be huge for us.
