Manchester United have pulled out of any potential deal for Athletic Bilbao’s Ander Herrera. The reason for the deal not going through is that United thought Herrera’s buyout clause was the wrong valuation, and tried to negotiate with Bilbao.
The Basque side are renowned for driving a hard bargain, with Javi Martinez’s move to Bayern Munich taking almost a month last year due to a similar situation. It was always going to be tight to push a deal through for the 24-year old midfielder, and it sadly looks as if United have come up short.
It is thought that a shirt number, and an announcement were both in place for Herrera, but United wouldn’t pay the fee.
With half an hour left, United are leaving it late on any potential move for Marouane Fellaini.
It’s pathetic. Ed Woodward and the powers that be are awful at their job. Arsenal, ARSENAL have made us look incompitent in the window. United fans get their hopes up time and time again, just to be let down constantly. Herrera, the player WANTED TO JOIN, yet united waited until the last damn minute to bid the full amount for him, and it was just logistically impossible. I hope to god we go in for him in january, as after the reviews he’s had from people like guillem balague, who rarely are off the mark, even at 30m were missing out. Never, ever been so annoyed with united. And I doubt I’m the only bloody one.
