Man United have welcomed home Cristiano Ronaldo. But how will he fit into the team?
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has pulled off an absolute masterstroke. Cristiano Ronaldo is back at Old Trafford – and it came out of absolutely nowhere.
Sadly, Daniel James would be the casualty of that transfer, with the Wales international heading to Leeds United.
Now, focus is firmly on moving forward, working out how United can best utilise Ronaldo to help us line the trophy with some much-needed silverware.
Back in the day, Ronaldo’s blistering pace, trickery and sheer skill made him perfectly suited to playing out wide. Things have changed since then. Let’s not forget the Portugal superstar is 36 now and it’s about using him in a different way. So let’s get right into it.
Check out the best Man United line-up with Cristiano Ronaldo in the side:
As you can see, our starting line-up is already looking miles more threatening, but before we get into Ronaldo, I’d like to talk about the bench. This is a team without Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford, Donny van de Beek and countless others. The depth Solskjaer has at his disposal is going to be huge over the course of a long season.
For Ronaldo, he’s being brought in to score goals and lead this team. Where better to play him than as the main striker? He won’t be asked to track back and do the dirty work, allowing the superstar to conserve all his energy for attacking duties.
Headers, finishing off either foot and being a general menace to opposing defenders. Ronaldo can use all of his experience, knowledge and sheer ability to propel this team onto bigger and better things.
All eyes on Newcastle United at home in ten days time for his potential debut…
