Well, this saga looks to be over. Antoine Griezmann, who was so heavily linked with a move to Manchester United literally hours ago, has just all-but confirmed his Atletico Madrid stay. The 26-year-old Frenchman just took to Twitter with one simple but effective tweet.

The post contains a picture of the attacker wearing Atletico colours, with the words’ now more than ever’. Hinting that he plans on staying with his current club through their tough time, as they’ve just been hit with a year-long transfer ban meaning they cannot sign any new players.
What a shame this is. Griezmann is a player who would have single-handedly transformed our attack from a good one into a brilliant one. I don’t think it comes as no surprise that United briefed the press that their interest had cooled just hours after their transfer ban news broke.
To be honest, this one hurts but you just have to laugh. In the modern day age, social media plays such a big part, and it now looks for all the world that the #7 will be staying with his current club for one more year.
It is now time for Edward Woodward and Manchester United to look at other targets. Who knows what other names are on the list, but it looked for all the world that Griezmann was going to be our marquee addition. Sadly, that doesn’t look like happening anymore.
