Manchester United are often divided when the topic of conversation is the Ecuadorian winger Antonio Valencia. Many fans love him for his versatility and the effort he puts in, whereas others fathom to work out just exactly what he brings to the table.
The winger hadn’t been playing much due to the form of Matteo Darmian this term, but after a dip from the Italian Valencia had worked his way back into the managers plans.
However Louis van Gaal could be without Valencia for a huge five months, after having surgery on his ankle.
Valencia suffered the injury in the 0-0 draw at home to Manchester City, but continued to play on, and in doing so probably caused further damage to the affected area.
That has led to surgery being a requirement, and now you’d probably say that his season is pretty much finished, which is a huge loss.
