Manchester United Football Club had a fairly quiet January transfer window, with Jose Mourinho choosing not to invest in the playing squad. Now, though, the summer period is rapidly approaching and this could be the perfect time to spend heavily.
One man repeatedly linked with a move to Manchester United is France international, Antoine Griezmann. The 25-year-old is making a real name for himself with Atletico Madrid, and that has led to the so-called ‘bigger clubs’ sniffing around for his signature.
Now, the man himself has spoken and although he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a move in the future, it doesn’t sound like he plans on going anywhere anytime soon.
When asked about a possible move away, Griezmann told L’Equipe, translated by Sky Sports: “Why not? That’s the dream for every player – to be at big clubs like that, or Bayern Munich.”
“But right now I don’t see myself at Barcelona or Real, or anywhere else.”
“I have no intention of leaving Atletico Madrid, for Paris Saint-Germain, China, the USA, Russia, or elsewhere.”
This is a real shame. Griezmann would be a supremely good piece of transfer business if Manchester United could somehow pull it off, but right now, it looks as though he is staying put.
Griezmann is one of the hottest players in football right now, and at times this season he has single-handedly carried Atletico Madrid. The good thing is that he still is just twenty-five, and there is plenty of time for him to move on in the future.
When he does decide to move away from Spain, I’m of the opinion that Manchester United will be chasing his signature pretty hard. He’d vastly improve any side on the planet, and I’m sure that every club who can afford his transfer fee and wage demands will all be sniffing around to try and lure him in.
