INEOS ‘actively looking’ for potential suitors to sign Antony from Man United

INEOS are said to be ‘actively looking’ for potential buyers for struggling winger Antony, despite contrasting reports.

It has been pretty well documented that Manchester United will have to sell before they can buy this summer. Money is tight due to FFP and Premier League profit and sustainability rules, hence, INEOS will be looking to move on from some players deemed surplus to requirements.

Perhaps no single footballer epitomises that more than Antony. Let’s be honest, he’s just not very good, is he?

The Brazil international has struggled mightily this season, though I don’t doubt that off-field issues haven’t helped his case.

There have been recent reports suggesting that INEOS regard him as a ‘talented player’ who is just having a bad season. However, the reliable Finley King (@AcademyScoop) has quashed those stories, claiming it’s just posturing from Antony’s side.

Apparently, United’s new owners, INEOS, are ‘actively looking’ for potential suitors to sign the struggling 24-year-old, presumably this coming summer.

Antony cost a huge amount of money. Sadly, the sooner he leaves, the better it’ll be for all involved. He’s just not good enough to play at this elite level. Yes, he scores the odd goal, but the overall performances have been pretty shocking. The fact that he’s so one-footed is also a major concern.

The issue United will have here is finding a willing buyer. Only a select few clubs can afford his wages, even fewer sides would consider pulling the trigger and bringing him in. I do worry United will be stuck with him, then forced into sanctioning a loan move away for the right-sided attacker.
