Injury blow for Manchester United, key man will miss Watford trip: report

Jose Mourinho may have a selection dilemma on his hands come the weekend. Luke Shaw, who has started the season in stunning fashion, is set to miss out when Manchester United take on Watford this Saturday.

That’s according to The Sun, who add that the 23-year-old left-back should be fit in time for the Red Devils’ trip to Berne to take on Young Boys in their opening Champions League fixture.

Shaw picked up the injury during England’s Nations League game against Spain almost a week ago. Concussions aren’t to be played with. I think it’s best that even if he does feel ready to go, the club take the decision to give him those extra few days off. The last thing he needs is another nasty fall – which could rule him out in the long-term while seriously affecting his life following retirement.

Concussions and head traumas aren’t taken anywhere near as seriously as they should be in this country. Sure, it’ll be tough to be without him for the trip to Watford, but you have to think about his livelihood. Thankfully, United’s team doctors are seemingly going to make the correct decision – and it’s great that the proper care is being taken in this situation.
