Inter confident about signing Tahith Chong, still working on deal: report

Back on February 11th, we covered a story from FCInterNews, in which it was claimed that Tahith Chong had decided to leave Manchester United as a free agent – with Inter Milan keen.

Well today, the ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano has given us another update on Chong’s contractual situation and possible career move.

Romano took to Twitter to confirm that the European giant Inter are ‘still working’ on the deal, though are ‘confident’ about signing the United starlet as a free agent. The deal is still being work on while talks are continuing.

The poor decision to not hand Chong a new contract last summer is seemingly coming back to haunt them already – whatever you think about the Dutchman as a player.

After an excellent pre-season tour, for me, the fluffy-haired winger has disappointed. Sure, his chances have been limited but he’s hardly set the world alight.

I’m of the old-fashioned mantra that United shouldn’t bow down and give into the demands of anyone, much less a young player who we’re still unsure as to how he’s going to develop.

If Inter are prepared to give him huge wages and playing time, then you can’t fault him for moving on. United, on the other hand, are hardly going to miss Chong…
