I, like many, have been surprised at a lack of selling from Manchester United during this summer window.
Aside from Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia leaving on free transfers, it hasn’t really felt like the Red Devils are even close to letting anyone go. Well, things could be progressing in regards to Romelu Lukaku’s future…
The report comes from Gazzetta dello Sport’s Monday print edition (translated via Sport Witness). They say that Inter Milan are (finally) set to make their first official moves for Lukaku this week – as Antonio Conte looks to start his managerial career at the San Siro with a bang.

Apparently, Lukaku told Edward Woodward, as far back as May, that he wants out of Old Trafford during this window. Obviously, so far we’ve not heard anything concrete in that regard.
Conte considers the 26-year-old forward ‘central’ to what he is trying to achieve at Inter, with the club wanting a deal done by July 7th – the date in which the Serie A club return for pre-season training.
United aren’t going to want to make a loss on a man they paid £75million for, and if Inter get close to the Red Devils’ asking price, I do firmly believe that an agreement could be reached this summer – although expect this one to drag out for at least a few weeks yet…
