Inter ‘willing to sell’ Lautaro Martinez to Man United

Inter Milan are willing to sell forward Lautaro Martinez to Man United.

Manchester United Football Club desperately need to bring in a new striker this summer. That has to be the number one priority going into a huge transfer window.

Erik ten Hag has absolutely done his best with what he currently has in the final third, though next season, he’ll be hoping for more quality in that area.

Harry Kane is undoubtedly the name atop everyone’s list. Signing him may be tough, as negotiations with Spurs’ Daniel Levy are never easy.

As you’d expect, United are doing their due diligence and looking at other options aside from Kane. Today, another name has been added to that list; Lautaro Martinez.

It’s Football Insider with the scoop. They claim that his current club, Inter Milan, are ‘willing to sell’ the 25-year-old forward to United, as they look to raise funds ahead of the summer.

On top of that, it’s stated the Reds view the player as an alternative option to Kane, should Spurs refuse to sell the Englishman to a direct rival.

In terms of Martinez transfer fee, around £70m should be enough to get the deal done – which is obviously an awful lot of money. If it were me, I’d pay the £100m (maybe more), to get Kane in, purely because he’s Premier League proven.

FI believe that Ten Hag wants a front man who can press from the front. Martinez does fit that bill nicely, claiming the Argentine is the ‘perfect fit’ for this current style of play United are deploying.

The Reds wouldn’t have it all their own way in pursuit of Martinez, with both Real Madrid and Arsenal also keen.

As an absolute minimum, you’d expect United would need Champions League football on the table to have any sort of chance at luring Martinez in.

Do you think a Man United move for Lautaro Martinez would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.

  1. Martinez would be better than Kane; cheaper, younger and more injury free, whilst Kane has developed his style into dropping deep (and United already have Fernandes and Eriksen as potential attacking midfielders).
However, Kane should be able to hit the ground running (being used to the Premier League), whilst Martinez may require time to acclimatize.
