Ivan Toney ‘wants to join’ Man United, has already informed Brentford of his decision

Ivan Toney now wants a move to Man United this summer.

Manchester United Football Club appear to be closing in on a deal to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna this summer, with the twelve-goal striker set to become the first major addition of the INEOS era.

We all just assumed that’d be the only striker signing of the summer, though that may not be the case. Earlier this week, the Red Devils were linked with a move to sign Ivan Toney. Those rumours appear to be here to stay…

This morning, Christian Falk has provided an update on that front. He has made a bold claim, stating that the Premier League striker ‘wants to join’ United, while the interest is reciprocated.

To further add to that, the Brentford striker has ‘already informed’ The Bees that he’s ready to move to Old Trafford.

With a contract until 2025, Brentford have a bid decision to make. Do they risk losing Toney for free in twelve months’ time? Or do they cash in now?

Toney is Premier League proven, a proper goal-getter and an excellent penalty-taker. I feel like it’s pretty clear he’s ready to move away from Brentford this summer, if the correct opportunity arises.

I do wonder where this would leave both the aforementioned Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund – particularly in a one-striker system…

As much as bringing in someone with Toney’s attitude and mindset could be a positive for the dressing room, I do wonder whether this money would be better spent elsewhere this summer…
