Jack Butland has sent a heartfelt message to the fans after leaving Man United.

The excitement of new signings is always starting to grow at this time in the season, though alongside that, players will also be leaving the Theatre of Dreams.

Manchester United will be looking to move some faces in on, in order to raise funds (and space in the dressing room) to bring in new signings.

One man whose time at United was short and sweet is Jack Butland. The keeper joined in January on a loan deal from Crystal Palace, providing cover for David de Gea.

Well, the 30-year-old has now taken to Twitter to send a heartfelt message to the fans, as he confirms his United exit. Butland will now join SPL side Rangers upon the expiry of his Crystal Palace contract.

The fact that Butland was able to play for the club he supported as a young boy is truly the stuff of dreams. The Englishman is a fan like all of us, and it’s nice to see that he genuinely believes United are moving in the right direction again.

He’s been in that dressing room day in day out for the last five months, so I’d like to think he knows what he’s talking about in that regard.

It always felt like this deal was not going to be made permanent, with De Gea looking set to sign a new deal, while Tom Heaton still remains at the club. I’d honestly be surprised if the club didn’t dip their toes into the goalkeeper market in some capacity, though, particularly if Dean Henderson does leave.

Once a red, always a red. Best of luck, Jack!
