Jadon Sancho has left Man United sweating, with the Englishman picking up an injury while away with the Three Lions.
Manchester United handed a full debut to Jadon Sancho this weekend, with the 21-year-old starting against Wolverhampton Wanderers during the 1-0 victory.
The tricky winger had a steady game, though I think we’re within our rights to expect more from the £73million man. No doubt over time, the quality performances will come.
Well, Sancho’s confidence has taken another knock, with the Reds star suffering a problem while on international duty. He’s left Man United sweating with an injury concern.
Gareth Southgate confirmed the problem just yesterday, admitting that Sancho has a ‘small knock’ and they’re ‘going to assess him’. He’s going to miss England’s first international fixture of the break.
“We’ve got a small knock with Jadon Sancho this morning, so we’re going to assess him. Everyone else is fine for the game.” Southgate told reporters, including the Manchester Evening News.
The good news is that the problem doesn’t seem serious – as if it was, he’d have already been sent back to Manchester.
The bad news? Well, Sancho could do with all the minutes he can get in order to build up both the fitness levels and confidence. I’d like to think the winger will be back in time to play some minutes for the Three Lions over the next fortnight.
Failing that and assuming he’s fit enough, a start against Newcastle United wouldn’t be the worst idea. This is a time our Red Devils should be beating – and beating handily. It’s a chance for Sancho to flourish, to play alongside the great Cristiano Ronaldo. To truly introduce himself to the Old Trafford faithful.
For now, Sancho has to work hard, keep in the right mental state of mind and no doubt the top performances will come shortly after.
Get well soon, Jadon.
