Jadon Sancho to leave Dortmund next summer, Man United at front of the queue: report

When you look at Manchester United’s biggest needs there are a few areas that constantly crop up. The centre of midfield is up there as is the right-wing position.

Neither of the aforementioned slots were filled this summer with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer focusing his efforts on improving the defence. That could change in twelve months time, though, as the Red Devils look to slowly build their way back to prominence.

The one name that us United fans would love to see at Old Trafford is Jadon Sancho. Well, according to the Daily Mail, the star 19-year-old is set to leave his current club, Borussia Dortmund next summer…

Furthermore, United have already started to ‘lay the groundwork’ for a huge swoop, with the Reds, and Sancho’s former club Manchester City at the front of the queue.

Sancho will cost ‘in excess’ of £100million though the Daily Mail’s sources suggest that United are ‘most advanced’ in their pursuit, with Solskjaer’s side having a longstanding interest in the gifted right-winger.

For me, this would be the marquee signing to make. United haven’t had a player who can entertain the crowd and get bums on seats since Cristiano Ronaldo was here. Sancho oozes class and quality and the scary thing is he’s only going to get better.

United will have to pay a premium to land their man, while City will probably have some sort of first refusal clause, though the Reds have shown a willingness to outspend their cross-town rivals before.

First and foremost it’s about finishing in the Champions League positions. I think that if we’d have managed that in 2018/19 then Sancho may already have been a Red Devil, but this time around it looks inevitable that he’ll leave Dortmund – so we need to give ourselves the best possible opportunity to acquire him…
