We’ve already provided you one update courtesy of the BBC in regards to Manchester United’s move to sign Jadon Sancho.
Yet, here we are again. This time, the claim comes from The Times (subscription required). They go big, claiming that a deal is expected to be completed next week.
The Times describe United’s move to sign the 21-year-old as ‘imminent’, though we shouldn’t expect a formal announcement until after Sancho is finished with England at EURO 2020.
United’s latest offer was around £72.5m, with £77m expected to be enough to get the deal done. That figure is without the various performance-related add-ons and bonuses that will also be included in the said transfer.
Apparently, United have already agreed, in principle, a five-year contract with the player, while the successful pursuit of Sancho is a significant boost for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is obviously a big fan of the young Englishman.
United have lacked that top-quality right-winger for ages. Don’t get me wrong, I like what Mason Greenwood has done out there, though his future surely lies as the main striker?
Sancho offers some solidity in an area of the field that has so often been chopped and changed in terms of personnel. Now, it’s just a waiting game until the deal becomes official.
As an Englishman, I’d like to think the Three Lions could do pretty well at the EURO’s, that said, Germany will provide a tough test next Tuesday. Who knows, we could hear something sooner than we think…
