Manchester United Football Club are big believers in James Garner, according to Andy Mitten.
It wasn’t too long ago when James Garner was talked up as the hottest prospect inside the Manchester United youth system. Sadly, things have changed since then.
Garner has had very little opportunity at first-team level, while United probably wanted him to develop a little quicker. As Sir Alex Ferguson once said, though, everyone develops at a different pace.
That hasn’t stopped United believing in Garner, though, despite the fact the midfielder struggled while out on loan with Watford. To their credit, the Old Trafford club would call him back, before sending him out to Nottingham Forest. By all accounts, it’s doing him the world of good.
According to top United source Andy Mitten, the Reds think they’ve got a ‘real player’ on their hands in the form of Garner. He’s ‘flying’ while out on loan with Forest, having put in three top performances so far.
Check out Mitten’s tweet here:
It’s easy to forget Garner is still so young. You see the likes of Mason Greenwood breaking through at 17, while two 18-year-old’s in the form of Amad Diallo and Shola Shoretire are within touching distance of the first-team.
That doesn’t take away from Garner’s talent, though. I do wish he’d have been given more of an opportunity here before being sent out on loan. But sometimes, that’s just the nature of the business.
For Garner, it’s just about continuing to improve and impressing for Forest. He’ll be there until the season’s end at the very least, so all he can do is keep playing at a high level.
Then, when he comes back to Old Trafford, he’ll be in a better place than he’s ever been in regards to making his big breakthrough.
