Manchester United Football Club has always been a hotbed of emerging talent. It’s in their DNA.
Credit where it’s due, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is doing his utmost to continue that trend, giving ample opportunity for the stars of tomorrow.
Brandon Williams, Mason Greenwood, Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford are all currently flourishing, while there are several others knocking on the door.
Amongst those trying to make their breakthrough is James Garner, who we’re big fans of here at Old Trafford Faithful. United have a decision to make on his future, having turned 19 in March without really being given any opportunity to prove his worth.
Well, it seems as though United have a plan laid out for Garner. According to the Manchester Evening News, the emerging United starlet is set for an ‘inevitable’ loan move away from the Reds next season.
After seeing very little action on pre-season tour last summer, this seems like the best course of action. Garner is far too good for PL2 football and he has to be playing competitively at the highest level in 2020/21, that’s for sure.
Be it at United, another Premier League side, or more likely lower down the leagues, regular minutes will do Garner the absolute world of good.
The MEN reference Tom Cleverley and Jesse Lingard as ‘late bloomers’ that Garner can follow. Personally, I’m not sure these are the best examples as both were much older than Garner and I still wouldn’t be surprised to see the Birkenhead-born-midfielder forcing his way into the first-team within the next year or so…
