James Maddison will be sold this summer, Man United interested

James Maddison will be sold by Leicester City this summer, with Man United among the sides interested in signing the Englishman.

Manchester United’s squad overhaul is set to continue this summer, with Erik ten Hag continuing to mould this squad into one that fits his style of play.

The Old Trafford club need help in multiple positions, including central midfield. Outside of Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, United have lacked consistency in that area of the pitch. Bringing in another top-class player would certainly help things.

James Maddison has been linked with a Theatre of Dreams switch in the past. Word on the street is he’s a boyhood United fan.

Now, he’s back in the headlines in regard to a potential Old Trafford switch. That’s according to The Telegraph.

Apparently, the 26-year-old Premier League star will be sold by Leicester City this summer – regardless of whether they’re relegated or not. United, Tottenham and Newcastle are the clubs who are keen on bringing in the Englishman.

In terms of transfer fee, around £45-60m would get a deal done. For a player of Maddison’s calibre, that seems like great value.

The Englishman can fulfil numerous roles in midfield. Playing as an attacking midfielder or sitting a little deeper, while he’d also bring in some extra set-piece quality. Free-kicks and corners, in particular, United have sometimes struggled.

Maddison is someone who’d improve most teams in world football. United included. We’ve all witnessed that strength in depth is what’s required for this squad to take the next step. How brilliant would it be to bring in someone like Maddison when Eriksen needs a rest for a game or two?

I’d love to see this deal happen.
