Jadon Sancho put in a top drawer performance for his country vs Andorra last night.
Manchester United’s new-boy Jadon Sancho has struggled at the season’s start. Understandably, confidence looked a little low following what took place over the summer with England.
However, the £73million man was back at it for the Three Lions last night – and I’m pleased to report he was excellent.
England would head to Andorra to play their World Cup qualifying fixture. Gareth Southgate’s men would make lightwork of their opponents, winning 5-0 in convincing style.
Sancho would start that game, which in itself was a nice show of faith in him from manager Gareth Southgate. The winger would back that up with a classy performance.
Sancho would tack on two assists for his teammates, create four chances, complete three take-ons and even have a shot on target. It was a top display from the star who needed to keep the momentum flowing. Thanks to Squawka for the stats.
It’s no coincidence that Sancho played his best game for United at the weekend, then puts in a similar-level performance for his country next time out. Confidence is building for the Englishman and that’s all he needs to succeed.
Sure, he’d start slowly at United but it was always going to take him time to settle into the Premier League. We’re now heading in the right direction, with the Red Devils’ big-money signing starting to show us all exactly what he’s capable of.
Now it’s down to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to put a show of faith in Sancho and start him this weekend against Leicester City. There’s absolutely no reason not to see what the winger can do, while it’ll only give the player another small confidence-booster going into a crucial portion of our season.
Hopefully, Sancho can put in another top performance for England next week, before returning to Old Trafford with a point to prove.
