Jerome Boateng set to snub Man United interest this summer: report

Manchester United’s current crop of centre-halves just aren’t anywhere near good enough. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to strengthen in that area of the field – preferably with someone experienced.

The latest name to be thrown into the ring is that of Jerome Boateng. However, in an exclusive from The Sun, it is being reported that the top-class 30-year-old is set to snub United interest this summer – in favour of a move to either Paris Saint-Germain or Juventus.

Boateng has been back in his homeland for eight years, but the German has been told he can leave the Allianz Arena on a cut-price deal this summer – as he’s available for just £15million due to having one year left on his deal.

Again, this is another case of United being turned down due to their lack of Champions League football. In that regard, the Old Trafford club simply cannot compete with their rivals, as the best players want to be able to take part in the biggest competitions.

Although Boateng has taken a backwards step over the last season or two, there’s no doubt that he would have been a massive upgrade on what we already have and it’s a real shame that he’s going to snub us this summer.

I guess it’s something we should get used to, with Solskjaer probably having to look much further down on his transfer wish-list because the top players realise just how messy things are at the Theatre of Dreams at present.
