Jesse Lingard contract talks collapse, he wants to leave: report

Jesse Lingard finally looks like he’ll be moving on from Man United permanently.

Last season, Jesse Lingard spent some time at West Ham United. The Englishman started to deliver his best form again. All he needed was that change in scenery.

It looked for all the world like Lingard would leave for good in the summer just gone. In the end, United and the player mutually agreed that they’d give it another shot.

The early signs were good. A couple of goals, one of them a game-winner, had everyone believing in Lingard again. We’ve barely seen the 28-year-old since – which is just absolutely bizarre.

Now, we’ve been given another update in the saga and it comes from The Times. Apparently, contract talks between United and the versatile Reds star have completely collapsed, with Lingard having no intention of signing a new deal.

Lingard, understandably, wants to leave – possibly as early as January. He’s frustrated at a lack of playing time, while several European sides have already declared their interest.

It’ll be sad to see Jesse leave the club he supported as a young lad growing up. But it’s for his best interests. Lingard needs to be playing week-in-week-out at a top club. He’s obviously good enough to do exactly that.

Now, it’s about finding the right fit. That’s up to Lingard’s agent and representatives to ensure he lands in the right place, while United can also help him out in that regard.

I get it. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but United should’ve cashed in on Lingard when he was worth £25million over the summer. The Reds have been in this situation time and time again which is why this situation is now such a frustrating one from a fan standpoint. The club always gets too greedy and this time, it has come back to bite them.
