Yesterday, we covered a story from The Athletic in which it was claimed that Arsenal could attempt to sign Jesse Lingard before next season. Though, the stance of the player wasn’t really made clear in that report.
Well, late last night, The Metro offered us another update from Lingard’s point of view – and they make his preference pretty clear…
Apparently, the 27-year-old is ‘desperate’ to stay at the club, with Lingard ‘focused on resurrecting’ his Reds career. Furthermore, the Warrington-born-attacker has ‘no intention’ of joining Arsenal.
I’ll be honest, I thought Lingard’s time at United was done as soon as he made Mino Raiola his agent. If he was comfortable at Old Trafford, why would he work with the best facilitator of transfers in the business?
However, The Metro are pretty stern in their views that the midfielder wants to fight for his place and won’t allow himself to be pushed out of the club; which is the perfect attitude to have.
The story goes on to place Lingard’s value at £30m, while United’s stance on the saga hasn’t been made clear. With interest from Everton as well as The Gunners, could Solskjaer be tempted to cash in and reinvest that money into the squad? It’s a real possibility…
