Jesse Lingard is attracting interest from Europe’s biggest clubs as an exit from Man United looms.

Manchester United have a couple of huge contract dilemmas on their hands. First and foremost, we have Paul Pogba. A first-team regular whose future could go either way.

Secondly, Jesse Lingard. The Englishman has drifted in and out of the side, scoring some important goals for the Old Trafford club this term.

However, Rob Dawson provided an update on his future earlier today, and claimed that the United star is ‘edging closer’ to a Man United exit.

Furthermore, Lingard has rejected one contract offer, while United are yet to come back with another proposal. He’s also attracting interest from top European clubs, including FC Barcelona and AC Milan.

Check out Rob Dawson’s tweet here:

The fact that some of Europe’s biggest and best sides are still showing a keenness suggests that Lingard definitely has something to offer.

We’ve seen it in abundance this term. Lingard can drift in and out of the side and impact games due to his movement, experience and genuine ability.

Lingard is a homegrown product so it’s only right that us fans want him to succeed that extra little bit more. He’s had ample opportunity to play regular football here over the years, but we can’t forget that two-year spell where the Warrington-born-winger just wasn’t good enough. Eventually, that’s what’s going to cost him his United career.

At this point, I can’t help but feel a permanent move away for Lingard makes complete sense. I’m just happy for him that he’s going to be playing at a high-level next term. A move to a top European club will get him away from the English media and that’s exactly the sort of career move that he would massively benefit from.

Obviously, it’d be sad to see him go but it feels like it’d be in the best interests of everyone.
