Jesse Lingard has emerged as an injury concern ahead of Brentford away.
Manchester United are pretty desperate for a victory right now, that much is obvious. Three points against a very decent Brentford side would go a long way to improving confidence and morale.
What’s more important is the overall display. We need to start showing consistency within our performances. Against Aston Villa we were actually pretty decent – so here’s to hoping there’s more of the same in that regard.
Well tomorrow night, the Red Devils have been hit with a fresh injury concern. Jesse Lingard has picked up an ankle injury.
According to ManUtd.com, the 29-year-old is now a doubt to play against Brentford later today.
Lingard has been used sparingly this term upon his return to Old Trafford following a successful loan spell with West Ham United. No doubt the Englishman is starting to seriously consider his long-term future at the club.
The Three Lions star is actually out of contract this summer, meaning he can walk away for free if he so chooses.
At this point, you cannot help but feel it’s best for all involved if Lingard does move on. United will free up some wage space and Lingard will likely move to a club where he’ll be playing regularly.
Once again, United have shot themselves in the foot. They were offered a very decent fee by West Ham over the summer – but chose to turn it down as they held out for more money.
Sadly, it’s just typical of the way things are going at Old Trafford right now. A once loved homegrown hero will probably leave the club with a bitter taste in his mouth. That’s pretty depressing.
