Jesse Lingard loved every second of his West Ham debut last night, with fans absolutely buzzing for the Englishman.
A few years ago, the Warrington-born-winger was amongst Manchester United’s most consistent performers. Jesse Lingard was loving life as a Red Devil, starting almost every week and scoring goals aplenty.
However, things have since changed. A new manager meant a change in tactics. Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer loves Lingard as a player, the Norwegian found it tough to work the Englishman into his team on a regular basis.
It culminated in Lingard not playing one single minute of Premier League football this term. Understandably, he’d want to move away, with a loan deal reached with West Ham United.
Last night, Lingard would make his Hammers debut, scoring two goals in an excellent 3-1 victory over Aston Villa. The 28-year-old was playing with a smile on his face. His movement was sharp, the passing was inch-perfect, it was a top-quality display with Lingard looking like the Lingard of old.
As the old saying goes, once a Red, always a Red. Lingard departed from the Theatre of Dreams with our best wishes and he’ll always be fondly remembered. That’ll never change, regardless of whether he comes back and plays another game for United or not.
