Jesse Lingard is frustrated with the way he’s being treated by Man United…
Manchester United allowed Jesse Lingard to spend the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan at West Ham United. The Englishman would flourish with the Hammers, rediscovering his best form.
After rejecting bids for Lingard, United decided to keep the attacker around for this season – only for him to be left frustrated on the bench yet again…
Now, Lingard is unhappy with the Old Trafford outfit, as a loan exit to Newcastle United collapses.
The story comes from ESPN, who do not hold back in regards to Lingard’s feelings.
Lingard is ‘unhappy’ with his treatment by United, who wants to be loaned to Newcastle for the remainder of the campaign. Apparently, he’s also disappointed as both Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham have shown interest – but the Reds aren’t willing to deal with a direct rival.
Sources have told ESPN that United are after a £2.5m up front fee, with another £12m guaranteed if Newcastle avoid relegation. The Magpies, understandably, aren’t willing to fork out potentially £15m for four months.
There is a suspicion in Lingard’s camp that he is being treated differently as he has so far refused to sign a new contract, meaning he’ll be a free agent this summer.
On top of that, the United star feels ‘let down’ by his treatment at the club, after spending more than twenty years here.
Simply put, Lingard just wants to play football and United aren’t giving him that opportunity. What’s sad is the Red Devils are also seemingly doing all they can to prevent him from getting that chance elsewhere – and I just don’t get it.
Lingard has always wore that badge with pride. He’s always shown us the utmost respect. Just do the right thing and let him join whichever club he wants.
